[ARCHIVED] Appetite for the Arts August 25 at Sculpture Park

The First Appetite for the Arts will be Saturday, August 25, 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park. The fundraiser is a collaboration between Central Rivers Farmshed and the Sculpture Park that celebrates local art and local food.

The First Annual Appetite for the Arts will be held on Saturday, August 25, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park. The fundraising event is a collaboration between the Central Rivers Farmshed and the Stevens Point Sculpture Park that celebrates local art and local food.

The event will feature a Local Chef Competition. Chefs will prepare dishes using locally sourced ingredients from area farms. Food tickets will be sold and purchasers will have the opportunity to vote for First Annual Appetite for the Arts Community Favorite Award. In addition, a panel of judges will also sample each dish before honoring one local chef with the First Annual Appetite for the Arts Best Local Food Chef award. At time of print, participating chefs will represent Café Espresso, Father Fats Public House, Polito's, Red Eye Brewery, and Rockman's Catering.

The event will include a mobile sculpture show called “Mobile Masterpieces.” Participants are invited to come see these mobile sculptures created by participating artists. Works will then be auctioned off.

Appetite for the Arts will also feature a Treasure Hunt for children, Poetry Slam, Song Swap/Open Mic, and a community sculpture build which will be set on fire at the end of the night, called “The Big Burn.” The event will also feature live music by Imaginary Friend, N-Doe, and Matt E. along with other activities.

To attend the event, there will be two types of tickets, the Appetite and the Art ticket. The Appetite Ticket is $30, and includes entrance to the event, 3 samples from the chef competition and rights to vote for the Appetite for the Arts Community Favorite Award, access to the live music, poetry slam, treasure hunt, participation in the community sculpture build and Mobile Sculpture Show. The Art Ticket is $15 (adult) or $10 (student), and includes entrance to the event and access to all activities EXCEPT the chef samples.

The Appetite tickets are limited with the potential to sell out, both Appetite and Art tickets go on sale August 1st and will be available for purchase at the Greenhouse Project, 1220 Briggs Court, Stevens Point as well as the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, 340 Division Street North, Stevens Point and online at www.farmshed.org.

The Stevens Point Sculpture Park is located at 900 North Second Street, in the wooded area south of the Zenoff Park parking lot.
