Seats on the Stevens Point Plan Commission, Board of Parks Commissioners, & Administrative Appeals Board are open. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and a City resident. Experience or interest in the oversight topic is helpful, but not necessary.
Stevens Point has been actively trying to get more people involved in their local government. Transparency, access to participate, and diversification have been driving forces to that end.
“We want you to get involved. A desire to help your community is the only prerequisite,” said Mayor Mike Wiza. “You don’t need any special degree or background, just a desire to listen and act on behalf of your city.”
Brief descriptions of duties and responsibilities for most committees are available on the application.
Anyone interested in serving should fill out the short application and include a cover letter explaining any relevant experience or qualifications. Direct the application and cover letter to the Mayor’s Office or the City Clerk at 1515 Strongs Ave.
