Assessment Rolls of the City of Stevens Point will be completed and open for public examination Mon., Sept. 11 - Fri., Sept. 15, 2017, 8 am - 5 pm in the Assessor’s Office. The Board of Review will meet at 9 am on Tues., Oct. 3, in the City Conference Rm.


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 70.45 of Wis. statutes, the Assessment Rolls of the City of Stevens Point will be completed and open for public examination on Monday, September 11 to Friday, September 15, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the City Assessor’s Office at City Hall, 1515 Strongs Avenue, Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

The Assessor will be present and available to answer questions regarding property assessments. In addition, instructional information and objection forms will be available during this time. These documents will assist property owners in the event they find it necessary to schedule a hearing before the Board of Review.


NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the City of Stevens Point Board of Review will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in the City Conference Room at 1515 Strongs Ave, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to hear sworn testimony from property owners objecting to their assessments pursuant to Sec. 70.47 (1) of the Wis. Statutes.

Applications for “Objection form for Real Property Assessment” and “Objection form for Personal Property Assessment” can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office or by calling (715)346-1569. Intent to file objections must be filed 48 hours prior to commencement of the Board of Review. A waiver to the 48-hour notice may be granted by the Board of Review during the first two hours of the meeting if the applicant shows good cause for the failure to meet the 48 hour notice requirement. Objections will be scheduled to be heard by the Board in the order in which they are received.

Those wishing to object to an assessment please be advised of the following requirements:
  • No person shall be allowed to appear before the Board or to contest the amount of any assessment of real or personal property if a reasonable written request by certified mail of the assessor to view such property has been refused. 70.47.(7)(aa)

  • Any person, firm, or corporation who refuses to testify, or who fails, neglects, or refuses to make and file the statement of personal property shall be denied any rights of abatement by the Board of Review on the assessment of the personal property unless they make a statement of reasons for the failure to file the return in the manner and form required. 70.35(4)

  • The property owner must specify in writing an estimate of the value of the land and improvements and specify the information that was used to arrive at the estimate. If the assessor or owner used the income method, the owner must supply to the assessor all information about income and expenses. The municipality must provide by ordinance for confidentiality of this information, with exception for persons using the information in the discharge of duties imposed by law or the duties of their office or by order of a court. This information is not subject to inspection as a public record unless a court determines that it is inaccurate. 70.47(7)(af)

  • The Board shall hear upon oath, by telephone, all ill or disabled persons who present to the Board a letter from a physician, surgeon, or osteopath that confirms their illness or disability.
Manufacturing property owners will have an opportunity to register objections to the assessments against those properties on dates to be established by the State Department of Revenue, before the State District Review Board.
