Wisconsin Public Service will soon begin a river bottom cleanup in the Wisconsin River near downtown Stevens Point. An informational meeting will be held at the Portage County Public Library in the Pinery Room on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
This section of the river, adjacent to the south end of Pfiffner Pioneer Park, was near the site of a former manufactured gas plant. The land portion of this site was cleaned up in 1998 and similar activities are planned to complete the river bottom clean up in that area.
Nearby residents and businesses have been contacted and are aware of WPS's plans.
