The first trail kiosk on the Green Circle was completed on May 23. The kiosk base construction and timber installation took place last Fall, and Schmeeckle Reserve student staff just installed the frames and signage. The kiosk is located on the east side of Wilshire Drive about a mile north of Schmeeckle Reserve.
Funding for the kiosk was generously provided by the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society, and the parking area was donated by Jeff and Jolene Brown.
Plans for a second kiosk in Bukolt Park, to be completed this Fall, are currently being discussed. Bukolt Park will provide a higher traffic area to highlight the Green Circle and potentially generate support for future kiosks. The Green Circle Trail Committee's goal is to construct a kiosk at every trail intersection along the Green Circle (about 12 total).
