For the past year, officials from Portage and Wood County have worked collaboratively discussing and analyzing recent heroin deaths and the rising use of heroin within our communities.
Our efforts have involved many stake holders including law enforcement, community leaders, judges, prosecutors, the medical field, schools, and a HMO provider. We have spoke with area legislators to discuss current and future legislation. We learned very early in the process that this was not a problem we can arrest our way out of, It requires education and commitment from the community and its leaders.
On Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 7:00pm, at Ben Franklin Junior High School Auditorium, a public forum to discuss what we have learned from the past year’s summits will take place. We also will have available a panel of professionals to answer any questions from the audience.
It promises to be a very informative and enlightening meeting.
Thank you.
