[ARCHIVED] Portage County Crime Stoppers

On April 9, 2011, deputies were called to the parking lot of Custer’s Pit Stop Tavern at 2310 Custer Road in the Township of Stockton for a report of theft.

Trying to make a living running a business is hard enough in these trying times, but for one Stevens Point businessman it even got harder. On April 9, 2011, deputies were called to the parking lot of Custer’s Pit Stop Tavern at 2310 Custer Road in the Township of Stockton for a report of theft.

Deputies arrived and spoke to the victim who stated that he stopped at the tavern for a few minutes and when he came out between 10:00 p.m and 10:30 p.m. someone had broken the rear passenger window and stole his briefcase which contained numerous items from his business in Stevens Point.

Items stolen are: a Dell laptop computer with burgundy computer case, one Bank One Bank bag containing $6,500.00 in cash, a brown leather wallet with credit cards and a black leather soft covered briefcase with numerous items for his business.

The thief then went to the Tomorrow River BP gas station and used the victim’s credit card to put gas in his truck and fill some gas cans. The truck is a Chevrolet Z71 dark color with chrome step rails and chrome front rails to protect the grill. There is a video of this subject and vehicle on the Portage County Website.

If you have any information about this theft or any other crime, you can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a cash reward. Call Portage County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600.
