[ARCHIVED] Stevens Point Celebrates Arbor Day

Stevens Point, Wisconsin – Stevens Point held an Arbor Day ceremonial tree planting in Forest Cemetery on Friday May 2nd. A fourth grade class from McKinley School participated in the planting.

The National Arbor Day Association has recognized the City of Stevens Point as a Tree City USA for the 33rd year, and has awarded Stevens Point its thirteenth Tree City USA Growth Award. To qualify to be a Tree City USA, municipalities must have a Tree Board, adopt a Community Tree Ordinance, have Community Forestry Program, and have an Arbor Day Celebration. The Growth Award was created to recognize environmental improvements and higher levels of tree care in Tree City USA communities.
