[ARCHIVED] Free Vehicle Winterization Inspection Sat., Oct. 12

Older adults and adults with disabilities may participate in a program to ensure that their vehicles are ready for winter driving weather. Participants will have tire pressures, drive belts, various fluid levels and other important items checked.

The annual vehicle winterization inspection will take place at 3 sites in Portage County on Saturday, October 12. This event is sponsored by Portage County Triad, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, Portage County RSVP, the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, the Stevens Point and Plover Police Departments, the Tomorrow River and Wisconsin River Lions clubs and King Lube.

Vehicles will not be repaired during the inspection, but tire pressure and fluid levels will be checked and adjusted as needed and participants will be advised if any problems are discovered.

The inspection sites and hours are:
• Stevens Point - Lincoln Center, 1519 Water Street - 9 a.m. to noon
• Plover - King Lube, 2545 Post Road - 9 a.m. to 11 am
• Amherst – King Lube, County Hwy KK - 9 a.m. to 11 am

Participants are invited to support hunger prevention efforts in the county by donating a canned food item. Donations will be given to local food programs.

Appointments are encouraged and should be made by calling the Aging and Disability Resource Center at 715-346-1401 by Wednesday, October 9.
