[ARCHIVED] Phone Scams about Medical Equipment

The Stevens Point Area often is a target of phone and internet scams, including a cold call - usually to a senior citizen - with a recording about free medical alert equipment that someone else has ordered for you.

The voice will ask you to press #1 to accept the equipment. If you do, you are transferred to a high-pressure sales person who will attempt to get your credit card and personal information.

Always hang up on unwanted phone calls. Do not press any numbers on automated calls, as this confirms your number as active. Never give any personal or financial information over the phone.

Don't become a victim of phone scams.
