On Tuesday, July 30, Vincent J. Belthem was arrested for Robbery and locked in the Portage County Jail. Belthem admitted his involvement, and a search warrant executed at Belthem’s residence recovered additional evidence and a portion of the money.
The Stevens Point Police Department had responded to a call of a Strong Armed Robbery at Blue Top Shell, 3449 Church Street Stevens Point, on July 28.
At approximately 9:15 PM, a store employee reported a male subject entered the store wearing gloves, a hood and a covering over his face. The male subject demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount and several cartons of cigarettes.
In a nearby park, detectives later discovered some of the clothing believed to be worn during the robbery. Due to evidence, surveillance video, and witness statement, a suspect was identified.
The quick resolution of this case was due to the collaborative efforts of the Stevens Point Police Department, Stevens Point Park Security, and the Portage County Sheriff’s Department.
