[ARCHIVED] Theft from Vehicles

During the early morning of Tues., July 15, the Stevens Point Police received a call from a citizen who observed two males appearing to steal items from a vehicle in the 600 Block of Union St. The citizen yelled at the suspects and they ran from the area.

Patrol Officers were able to locate the two 18 year old suspects, identified as Michael R. Stolz and Ian M. Rosebrook. The suspects admitted to going “car shopping” in the area, entering and removing items from several vehicles. Police recovered several GPS units, sunglasses and an iPod. All vehicles entered were left unlocked with valuables inside.

The Stevens Point Police commends the citizen witness for calling the police, and they will be awarded a Police Department Recognition Coin.

Police urge citizens to keep their vehicles secure and valuable out of sight, and to call law enforcement when they observe suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

Through Police and community partnerships, we CAN make a difference.
