[ARCHIVED] Sculpture Park Summer Celebration Saturday, June 8

Five new sculptures will debut during the 2013 Summer Celebration on June 8 at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park. The celebration will begin at 11:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm. The park is located on North 2nd St., just south of Zenoff Park.

The new works are “The Lonely Cost of Getting Lucky in the Great Nouth Weast” by Jesse Blumenthal of Crested Butte, Colo.; “Grow,” by Jim Lucas of Wisconsin Rapids; “Wired,” by Mike Godell of Stevens Point; “Maurice’s Contraption” by Paul Murphy of Stevens Point; and “Acoustic Woodland Locator” by Daniel Dean, Ben Moren and Emily Stover of Minneapolis. In addition to these five pieces, a sixth piece will be installed later this summer.

The Summer Celebration also will feature live music by the Voyageur Saxophone Quartet (comprised of David Hastings, Jenny Bellmer Callope, Clarke Crandell and Mary Nowinski); a scavenger hunt; and poetry readings by The Aspiring Authors of Stevens Point.

Peace Flags created by local elementary school students also will be on display during the event, as well as several collaborations between local artists, art teachers and students.
