[ARCHIVED] Veteran Liaison Officer Assignment

Officer Mike Bink has been assigned as the Department’s first Veterans Liaison Officer. His passion to help our returning heroes will make Officer Bink a great resource to our Community and the many veteran organizations in the area.

The Stevens Point Police Department's Mission Statement, when developed, emphasized the need to build community partnerships. Law enforcement contacts increasingly involve individuals suffering from a mental illness or defect. Unfortunately, veterans are a growing segment of our population experiencing a notably high occurrence of mental illness directly related to Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD) or brain injuries. Many times, Police Officers are the first points of contact with veterans which necessitates the need to build a partnership with veteran organizations to assure we get the help our heroes deserve.

Officer Mike Bink has been assigned as the Department’s first Veterans Liaison Officer. Officer Bink has already been very active with various veteran causes such as assisting in the development of a veteran support program called Dry Hooch here in Stevens Point. His passion to help our returning heroes will make Officer Bink a great resource to our Community and the many veteran organizations in the area.

Officer Mike Bink has been a Police Officer with the City of Stevens Point for over 17 years.
