[ARCHIVED] Daytime Burglaries in North East Side Residential Neighborhoods

The Stevens Point Police Dept. has received reports of at least 7 burglaries to private homes within the past week in northeast side residential neighborhoods. The burglaries occurred between Wed., March 13 and Tues March 19.

Most involved forced entry and occurred during daytime hours between noon and 5:00 pm while residents were away.

The suspect(s) have taken only cash at this point, passing on other valuables.

We believe that the suspect could be familiar with the area, casing the homes to see if they are vacant, or may be possibly knocking on doors with a somewhat legitimate reason to confirm if anyone is home.

If you’ve seen people or vehicles that seem out of place in your neighborhood or experienced a stranger knocking on your door for an unusual or questionable reason, please contact our Department.

Please contact Detective Sgt. Gruber with any information at 715-346-1518.

Or, to remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward, contact Portage County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600.
