The City has received a Remediation and Redevelopment grant which allows for a previously selected Wisconsin DNR consultant to perform Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment on the property.
The grant, received through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ (WDNR) “Wisconsin Plant Recovery Initiative Program,” is a “contractor service” award which essentially allows for a previously selected WDNR consultant to perform Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment on the property. As the Lullabye property (1017 Third Street) previously housed a youth furniture manufacturing plant, all eligibility criteria were met.
Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments are necessary to remediate or cleanup contamination on the property. Once performed, the extent of contamination is known and several opportunities exist for additional funding to assist with remediation. This is an important step towards the redevelopment of the property.
