Dog & Cat Licensing
General Information
- Licenses are required for dogs and cats in the City of Stevens Point.
- New City residents - your pets must be licensed within 30 days.
- Young pets must be licensed after they have had a rabies shot and before they reach six months of age.
- Your pet's rabies certificate is required each time you get a license.
- Licenses expire December 31, and can be renewed for the upcoming year beginning on December 1.
- $5 late fee will be charged for obtaining a pet license after the due date of March 31.

Dogs
- Neutered or spayed - $14
- Not neutered or spayed - $24
- Multiple Dogs (up to 12) - $90
Cats
- Neutered or spayed - $2.50
- Not neutered or spayed - $4
How to Purchase or Renew your License
By Mail
- Mail the rabies certificates and your payment to:
Comptroller/Treasurer's Office,
1515 Strongs Ave.,
Stevens Point, WI 54481 - Include the following information:
Your name, address, and phone number,
Your pet’s name, color, breed, and sex. - The tag(s) will be mailed back to you.
Online
- Additional Fees apply.
- E-mail the rabies certificate(s) to Treasurer@stevenspoint.com prior to paying online (payment can follow immediately).
- Include the following information:
Your name, address, and phone number
Your pet’s name, color, breed, and sex. - The tag(s) will be mailed to you.
- When paying online, select:
Payment Type - Treasurer-Invoices/Licenses/Tax, and
Invoice Description - Pet License.Opens a New Window.
- Please Note: Fees are additional. Fees for processing your payment are paid to Point&Pay and are not applied to the pet license. Not paying enough for the cost of the tag or not including the late fee will result in requiring an additional payment and paying additional fees.
- Confirm all Fees prior to accepting your payment.

Not Renewing Existing License(s)?
- If you are not renewing your pet's license because you no longer have the pet or you moved out of the City, kindly send us an e-mail at Treasurer@stevenspoint.com Opens a New Window. or give call us at 715-346-1573.
- Please provide us your name, your address, and the pet's name.
Exotic / Farm Animals as Pets
- Visit the City Clerk’s office for regulations and licensing for exotic or farm animals.
