Green Circle Trail Wins Award

"Citizens for a Scenic Wisconsin, Inc." has announced that the Green Circle Trail has received a
2008 Scenic Beauty Award.

The award presentation took place Friday, October 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Schmeeckle Reserve. Members of the Green Circle Trail Committee were there to accept the award.

Each year, Citizens for Scenic Wisconsin recognizes individuals and organizations that have made a special effort to protect or enhance the quality of our visual environment. Past recipients include government agencies that have implemented programs to preserve and protect our scenic Wisconsin, individuals that have maintained rural landscapes, and volunteer organizations that have beautified their urban communities.

The criteria used in choosing the award winners were: impact on the attractiveness of the State of Wisconsin; potential to be used as a model by others; uniqueness; and effort relative to size of the organization.

Congratulations to all of the users and contributors of the Green Circle Trail.
Come jog, walk, bike, or ski the Green Circle!

Biking/Hiking/Jogging/Skiing on the Green Circle

The City of Stevens Point is a supporter of the "Green Circle" program, which is a subgroup of the Stevens Point Area Foundation. The Green Circle is the Stevens Point Area's 24 mile nature trail which circles through the beauty of river shores, trees, wild birds and animals.

A co-operative effort brought together neighboring municipalities and the people of Portage County to create this 24 mile Greenway that follows a route around the entire Stevens Point Area. This is a great place to bike, hike, jog or ski if weather permits.
