The Stevens Point Fire Department established a
Juvenile Fire Setter Program to meet the increasing problem of children playing with fire.
Adults must be constantly aware of signs of children playing with fire.
If you have found evidence that your child has been
playing with fire or displays a high interest in fire, don't delay in contacting the Stevens Point Fire Department.
More than 80% of those who receive no help will light more fires.
Members of the Department will meet with the children and parents to gather information on the fire play behavior.
This information will enable them to determine if the fire setting was a simple fire play or more indicative of
serious fire setting behavior.
The Department's goal is simply to educate your family on fire safety.
We are here to help and perhaps aid in avoiding a child's fire tragedy.
