What's With all the Orange Bikes in Stevens Point?

UWSP has partnered with bike-share company Spin to provide 125 orange shareable bikes on campus. Beginning April 2, anyone, even non-students, can use one of the bikes. Rides can be paid for in 30-minute increments or via an unlimited ride monthly pass.

Cost of Riding the Spin Share Bikes
  • UWSP students, faculty, and staff can pick up and ride a bike for 50 cents every half-hour, or sign up for unlimited 30-minute rides for $14/month (with their @uwsp.edu email address).
  • Other persons will pay $1 per half hour or $28 for a monthly pass.

Instructions

  1. Download the app by searching “Spin Bikes” on the app store and sign up with your email address.
  2. Open the app and locate an available bike near you.
  3. Scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it.
  4. Start your ride.
  5. When done, drop-off and lock the bike by an existing bike rack on campus.

Bike Parking Rules

At UWSP, Spin Bikes must be parked at or within a few feet of a bike rack on campus. Spin Bikes must also "live" on campus, meaning that while you may ride them off-campus, you must return the bike to a bike rack on campus by the end of the day. Spin may charge account relocation fees for not following these rules!

UWSP hopes this program will allow for more faculty, staff and students to take advantage of the bikes, be it to get from one end of campus to the other when they are in a rush, or to take them out for a leisurely ride during the weekends.
